How to Engrave Laserable Paper
Laserable Paper works by evaporating the top paper layer to reveal the rich gold foil underneath. There's a wide range of settings that will achieve this, so a little testing goes a long way.
Run a test grid first. Every laser is different. Before starting your project, run a small test grid at varying power and speed settings to find the sweet spot for your machine.
Use just enough power to remove the top paper layer. You only need to evaporate the paper surface, not blast through it. Using more power than necessary can cause the laser beam to reflect off the gold foil back toward your laser lens, which you want to avoid to protect your optics.
Do not cut Laserable Paper with your laser. The inner foil layer does not cut cleanly with a laser. Instead, we recommend cutting with:
- Drag-knife cutters
- Guillotine cutters
- Utility knives
- Scissors
Engrave with the laser, then cut by hand or blade for the best results and the longest life from your equipment.
