3M Double-Sided Adhesive for Laser Cutting: Which One Should You Choose?
The 3M 300LSE uses a completely different adhesive chemistry from the 467MP and 468MP. Where those use 200MP, optimized for metals, plastics and glass, the 300LSE is engineered specifically for low surface energy materials: smooth plastics, powder-coated finishes, and coated wood surfaces that standard acrylic PSAs struggle to wet out on.
Why laser crafters choose 300LSE:
It's the problem-solver tape. If you've had keychains delaminate, acrylic layers separate, or bonds fail on coated plywood, this is what you reach for. The 300LSE chemistry grips aggressively on contact, higher initial tack than the 200MP series, which means a strong immediate hold without waiting for full cure.
The cured bond is exceptional. It's also fully waterproof and UV-stable, rated for outdoor use. Crafters consistently report being surprised by this: built for keychains and bag tags that get handled daily, for outdoor ornaments, for anything that will see moisture or direct sun. The lower continuous temperature rating (93°C vs 149°C on the 200MP tapes) is the only trade-off, for high-heat environments, choose 467MP or 468MP.
Like the other two, the liner is laser-safe. Apply it to your sheet before cutting, run the laser, peel the liner on the finished piece.
Important: 300LSE has the highest initial tack of the three. Position carefully, this one is the least forgiving of misalignment.
Technical specs:
- Adhesive: 3M 300LSE high-strength acrylic PSA (LSE-optimized)
- Adhesive thickness: 0.05 mm (2 mil)
- Temperature range: -40°C to 93°C (continuous), 148°C (short-term)
- Sheet size: 12" × 20"
Applications: Keychain and ornament assembly, layered panels, bonding to prefinished or varnished plywood, powder-coated metal components, including back surface of mirror acrylic, polypropylene and polyethylene materials, any smooth plastic-to-plastic or plastic-to-coated-surface bond.
