3M Double-Sided Adhesive for Laser Cutting: Which One Should You Choose?

Best for: metal hardware on laser-cut signs, mirror and glass lamination, bonding to high surface energy substrates where an invisible seam matters most.

Why laser crafters choose 467MP:
The polycoated kraft paper liner is laser-safe, it won't char, flare, or leave residue in your machine. The liner also has a natural "layflat" property that prevents curling and bubbling during application, critical when you're assembling laser-cut acrylic signage or metal-backed pieces.

Technical specs:

  • Adhesive: 3M 200MP high-performance acrylic PSA
  • Adhesive thickness: 0.06 mm (2.3 mil)
  • Liner: 58 lb polycoated paper (laser-safe)
  • Temperature range: -35°C to 149°C (continuous), 204°C (short-term)
  • Sheet size: 12" × 20"

Applications: mounting metal nameplates and hardware to laser-cut signs, glass and mirror lamination, bonding aluminum and stainless backings to signage, thin layering applications where every fraction of a millimeter counts.

Adhesive FAQ

Using 3M adhesive tape

  • What can I bond with this 3M adhesive tape?

It is a double-sided adhesive transfer tape for mounting laser-cut and engraved pieces, bonding acrylic, wood and leatherette to fabric, apparel, signage and hard surfaces for a clean, permanent hold with no sewing or messy glue. It comes in a few grades: 300LSE is the most versatile and grips the widest range of surfaces, including low-surface-energy plastics, while 467MP and 468MP are tuned for metals and high-energy plastics.

  • How do I apply it?

Apply the tape to the back of your material first and press it down firmly, it is pressure-activated, so firm, even pressure is what builds the bond. Then cut your piece, the liner is laser-safe and cuts cleanly along with the material. When you are ready to mount, peel the liner and press firmly onto your surface.

  • Which 3M adhesive should I choose?

It depends on the surface and the wear it will see. Our guide, 3M Double-Sided Adhesive for Laser Cutting: Which One Should You Choose, walks through the options so you can match the tape to your project.

  • Do I need this if my leatherette already has TPU adhesive?

Not for press-on leatherette patches, those already carry a heat-activated TPU melt backing. Reach for this tape when you are mounting acrylic, wood, or sheets without adhesive, or when you want a no-heat option.
